INTRODUCTION: The Bible tells us that due to the fall of mankind in Adam, and Eve (Read Genesis chapter3), every person born into this world is fallen, because we all inherit from our fore-parents (Adam and Eve) the ability and tendency to sin. Because God is altogether righteous, He is unable to tolerate sin. The Bible further tells us that the penalty for sin is death (eternal separation from God in Hell). But, the gift of God (salvation) is eternal life in the presence of God.

The soul that sinneth, it shall die Ezekiel 18:4, 20. Death is the penalty for sin, therefore, we all are born into this world with a death sentence hanging over us. Nevertheless, because of the great love God has for us, He made a way of escape for us. He himself came in the form of a man (incarnation), Jesus, and paid for our sins on the Cross.

Jesus took our sins upon Himself for us, thereby fulfilling God's righteous judgement on our behalf, making it possible for us to be reconciled back to God the Father Almighty. Jesus paid our death penalty for us, making Him the propitiation for our sin. Therefore,

1. Salvation is the gift of God by grace through faith in Christ. Ephesians 2:8. There is nothing we have to do, Jesus did it all, we receive the gift by faith. Faith is believing in the full works of Jesus on our behalf.

The Bible teaches us in the book of Romans 10:9 "that if thou shall confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shall be saved." Only Jesus has the power to save, and we must believe this from the heart level. Salvation is by faith in Jesus Christ alone, through God alone. There is no work required of us to be saved. It is the free gift of God. There is no other way that is acceptable unto God.

2. What must I do to be saved?
The Bible tells us that we must believe on Jesus Christ in order to be saved. Exactly What then must we believe? We must believe that Jesus is the only begotten Son of God, He died on the cross in order to meet God's righteous judgement and punishment for our sins. He was sinless, but He took our sins upon himself, thereby paying our sin debt. God imputed His righteousness to us, and washed us clean in His blood, which was shed for our sins. He died and was buried, and rose from the dead on the third day. He conquered, and broke the hold that death had on all of us because of sin. Therefore, salvation is by faith in Christ alone, there is no other way. (will be continued)
